TransTaskBar - CLI and UI by SuprVillain TransTaskBar - CLI and UI by SuprVillain
For WinXP and up

[ADDED IN: The ability to change the transparency of your desktop icons now also :D i have to admit, it was an accident that i figured that one out! ]

Simple app. TransTaskBar. you can change your taskbar's translucancy from 0 (invisible) to 255 (opaque). You can only do < 25 if you use the CLI version , that is DOS command.

The UI is more what your standard windows user will use though. The CLI version works like this.

TTB < # between 0 to 255>

so it would be
TTB 180
for a 180 transparency .

This make it ad a good "add-on" to people's programs.

Unlike how most will just change the translucency of just the task bar, this gets the task bar and the start menu, so that they both are faded. this is a good app to have if you dont have AERO on vista/7, or if you on WinXP.

Command line version was made to be as an add-on to Sami's excellent eyecandy app.

Remove what? the app, or the "Start"?
If the "Start" i dont know, what Os are you using? This pap was only ment for Windows XP, so compatibility with Vista and 7 may not be, and is most likley, not perfect.

This makes my desktop background black. I do I set it to normal? Setting it to 255 makes desktop even blacker...
When I try to move items on the desktop, they clone. How can I reset my desktop back to normal?

That should not be an effect of the app. Also, the app is no longer supported, sorry.

Sadly that option was not coded in, so when you make one translucent, you also make the other the same way. Sorry about that.

jusr delete the files, then re-boot. or run the UI version, set opacity to 255, apply, close the UI app. then delete the files.

Before i had transbar.exe who making the transbar transparency but you program make the start panel transparent too. that's exactly what i will.

make a shortcut to ttb.exe, then right click on the shortcut and go to properties.

when you see the box that has TTB.exe, pue behind the last quote the number that was displayed in the UI version behind it, like this

"c:\Folder\ttb.exe" 190

and apply/save the changes, then close out the window.

now right click on the start button, and choose "explore all users"

navigate to the startup folder, and drag and drop the ttb shortcut to that folder, now whenever you start up windows, it will work on it's own.

i hope this helps you out.

you have mny permission to include this in your app, use ttb.exe just do a shell "ttb.exe" & a space and the value behind the transparency, it default to 180 if no number is given.

here is a good VB6 example

shell app.path & "/ttb.exe " & text1.text

have a text box for a number 0 - 255 (higher = opaque)

then a button calling the routine as set above.

i like making addins like this :D

just make a new shortcut to the TTB.exe. with out a number there, it will auto-default to 180, a good transparency value.
